Entrance Main entrance or the main gate of vastu is considered important in traditional vastu wisdom. In modern age where houses are confined to flats, entrance pre-decides layout of other elements within the house. Most of the modern flats have livingroom immediately after entering. Bedrooms are most distant from entrance. Thus ensuring that entrance stands at proper place would place other elements at correct places as well. Common misconception about people is gate facing particular direction is good or bad. However we believe rather than direction in which gate is facing, its location in the vastu is more important. Flow of air and energy in a Vastu is affected by its location.

Livingroom Livingroom is one place which is used by all family members. It is also where you treat your guests. Livingroom has to be cheerful and pleasing. It is where most family discussions take place. Livingroom sets energy in the discussions happening here. You would want your livingroom to bring all the energy you require for your family well being

Kitchen You are what you eat, is probably more than just a saying. Appending to the saying, a vastushastra expert would say - you are where your kitchen is located! Women often spend most of her time in kitchen. Location of kitchen is important for people involved in cooking activities in home. In ancient kitchen, it was a place full of smoke and heat. Appropriate ventilation would mean avoiding this smoke to spread in other parts of house. We have got rid of this smoke with our modern kitchenware; however still some activities like frying / sauteing spices result in people sneezing in other rooms, don't they? In a modern way, kitchen would be high pressure region in home and is the engine of your vastu air and heat circulation.

Bedroom An area of alternative medicine is magnetic therapy. And probably bedroom is one place where weak magnetic forces of earth get enough time to act. Vastushastra experts were probably the first believe that magnetic forces affects cell division and hence possibly reproductive system. WC / Toilet Water closet / loo / Toilet sets the hygiene of your home. You would not want sewer gases or microbes in human waste to spread other areas of home. Appropriate location of WC would be in low pressure region in your house with air flow ventilated out of WC and home.

Bathroom Ever noticed body ache and laziness on a hazy and cloudy day? Humidity place role in our well being and bathroom often sets humidity levels in a vastu. Often bathroom is also associated with water storage and use. Water and its heat absorbing properties affect the engine of air circulation in a vastu. Location of bathroom in a vastu is thus critical.

Open spaces Open spaces bring in fresh air and oxygen from outside. A cross ventilation is what modern architects plan for. However vastushastra looks into this ventilation in context of desired air circulation direction. Different elements of vastu require different levels of air circulation.
